About Us

The roots of the AIAA Niagara Frontier Section, in the form of the Buffalo Chapter of the Institute of the Aeronautical Sciences and the Niagara Frontier Rocket Society, date back to 1943 and 1951, respectively. Both organizations grew through much of their history, gaining members and support from the growing Western New York aerospace industry, and continued to thrive after their merger in 1963 as the AIAA Niagara Frontier Section. Through expansion in New York State and Canada, the section today consists of over 600 professional and student members as well as student branches at fourteen universities in both countries.
